Founded in March of 2008, Route 92 Sports Bar has quickly become the Premier spot to cheer your favorite team to victory. Newly renovated over the last two years, the owner, Jim Ellenikiotis, has created an environment that welcomes both the casual drinker and the avid sports aficionado. Whether just meeting a friend or gathering a group to watch the game, you will find that Route 92, with its fully stocked bar, daily specials, and great Happy Hour is a place you will want to revisit time and time again!
Jim’s vision was to take a local hang out and while keeping with its unpretentious charm, bring to it his sporting background and true love of the game. What evolved was a genuine Big Ten Bar hosting a variety of sports packages on the surrounding nine flat screens and if you’re a Michigan fan, you’ve found your home away from home. If you’re feeling a little competitive, try your hand at shuffleboard, dartboard, foosball, pool and video gaming. Or if you just simply want to catch a game while enjoying one of our twelve Micro Brews on tap, we will be more than happy to individualize the screens so that everyone can support their favorite team.
In keeping with the true spirit of a local neighborhood bar, Route 92 offers a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere with a friendly knowledgeable staff. One of only two places in San Mateo to open our doors at 6:00 a.m., our bartenders are more than happy to pour you a great cocktail or offer a hot cup of coffee. During the cold winter months, we turn on our fireplace to keep everyone warm and if you want to escape the heat during the summer, stay cool in one of the only air-conditioned spots around. Route 92 also has free WiFi so feel free to come in and grab a seat on one of our comfortable leather couches and get some work done away from the office. Whatever your generation, you will hear your favorite songs on our advanced Touch Tunes system or from one of the hundreds of CD’s we keep in stock. We also offer light fare from our Hot Dog and Hot Pretzel machines and often host a large assortment of free food on big game days and weekends. Outside we boast a covered smoking area with seating to escape both the sun and the rain. Easily accessible from Highway 92, this bar is a perfect choice to host private parties from birthdays to corporate events.
